Attorneys at Law, Tricia Gaye Watson and Peter Goldson
(centre) of the law firm Myers Fletcher and Gordon show
plaques they received from Minister of Energy, Mining
and Telecommunications, Clive Mullings (right) on
Tuesday, January 22, 2008. Also on hand at the handing
over was Director General in the Ministry, Karlene
Francis. The two
lawyers were awarded for providing voluntary legal
services during the Public Education Programme for the
E-Transactions Act. The objective of the Programme is to
educate Jamaicans about their roles, rights and
responsibilities under the Electronic Transactions Act
2006.
Goldson and Watson, together, contributed in excess of
fifteen hours of legal service to the Ministry during
the focus group meetings, public fora and interview
sessions.
In lauding the work of the two lawyers, Minister
Mullings said they made the process for the entire
Ministry team much easier than it could have been, and
commended them for the spirit of voluntarism they had
demonstrated throughout the process.
Minister Mullings further suggested that this was even
more commendable because of the level of sacrifice it
required on their part to volunteer their time and
energies to the consultation process.
